LBP test overlap comparison (6 weeks period)

I know all this training business makes us sound a bit serious but, well, some people really are into this bike lark so feel free to talk about all training & self improvement related topics in here

LBP test overlap comparison (6 weeks period)

Andrew Ellis's recent LBP test over the last 6 weeks one thing to note training makes you worse recovery makes you better.

Test 1 - 13/01/09
LBP HR - 150bpm
LBP watts - 211
Body weight - 74.2kg
LBP w/kg ratio - 2.85

Notes :
Had completed a 90 mile reliability ride on the Sunday, gone harder than Andrew liked. Only 2 days rest before test. Probably not fully recovered from Sundays ride.

Test 2 - 02/03/09
LBP HR - 155rpm
LBP watts - 248
Body weight - 71.1
LBP w/kg ratio - 3.49

Notes :
On a recovery week, 3 days off bike before test. Resting HR much lower this time (45bpm was 52bpm).

Yep, i'm pretty pleased with the numbers.. I think it's definitely a combination of being well rested plus the effects of the previous 5 weeks training, which was my final base period (so lots of steady riding plus the introduction of a couple of hard rides).

Still, we'll see how it all translates this coming Sunday :D

You can normaly interpret results to your way of thinking. As Andy was in 2 different states of recovery, you cannot take anything from then.

Rob - the graph for 13 Jan looks a bit funny especially the last 2 plots.

Paul,

Andy's top end was fatigued on 13th Jan that's why the points have dropped below the line. With a MAX HR of 189 I expected him to be around 175-180HR @ PE of 8 but he could only get up to 169HR/280W, this weeks test 176HR/320W.

After the first test I mentioned to Andy I felt his performance line was down due to him being not fully recovered from the 90 mile reliability ride 2 days previously.
