Women's Chaingang: Wednesday's

I know all this training business makes us sound a bit serious but, well, some people really are into this bike lark so feel free to talk about all training & self improvement related topics in here

why aye pet....

not that anyone really cares but... cos i currenlty dont,

i'm up here, Rolling out the new pension transformation program.. tecy stuff

So when you're all old and are getting the correct pension credits and state pension it will all be down to the wonderful people at Accenture... (I’m not included in that stamen as currently I’d rather be on my bike, can you retire at 25?, i think i have just invented a loop/ unfixable error   in the code)

intresting fact..NOT..., but the main trigger why the ugrade was needed was to accodate the baby boom inflx of retiring people now and in the next few years.

also at this point i;d like to point out that i am NOT a nurse, as many people for some reason think i am..

Does the 'state' actually have much chance of having any money left by the time I retire. The way they are spending at the moment I think we maybe seeing an increase in the retirement age to match the day you die.

Cheers

And Marek, who do you blame for that? The chickens came home to roost maybe, but then, I expect that before too long we'll see a return of the culture of bonus and greed among financial types that got us into this fine mess and it will only be ordinary folk that pay the price.

Its called Capitalism and is engrained in almost everyone. Who were the ones taking out 125% mortgages, or telling porkie pies on the self declaration forms to get themselves a larger mortgage that was much too big in relation to their salaries. I don't really want to go too much into it, but it's actually everyones fault for being greedy, but that's the way most people are programmed.

Not sure what this has to do with Women's chaingang, but am sure it is a darn good idea, I would certainly like to come along and watch, or give a helping hand. :D

Cheers

Perish the thought that there could be such a thing as ethical capitalism! If capitalism = unfettered greed maybe we need to rethink the model somewhat, but with an index linked state pension why should I care; take it away young Marek and reap that which you sow. mmmmm ...... maybe the idea of a 'chain gang' is not so far removed

Getting back to the original subject - this is on again on Wednesday (11th March).

A women's training ride to Polhill and back. I went last week. Bryan Taylor was chaperoning. Pace was quick, but manageable. A few of us were dropped when going up Polhill, but you just wait at the roundabout and jump back in with the group on the return leg. Those who are dropped on the return leg are waited for at Badger's Mount or in Farnborough Village.
All women who can ride 18 mph average on the club run are welcome to come along. Meet at 7.00 - 7.15pm at Elmers End by the Skoda Garage, for a 25 mile ride.

Shame you can't make it Chloe - this would've been right up your street.

Bye for now,

Maria

If us ACC "slow" blokes are ahem... tolerated, I might well give it a go tonight, sounds like a nice mid week workout!

(sorry Maria, I'm not sure I know you, are you by any chance the one I was introduced to by Chloe just after the last race at Chertsey??)

Yes, I think I did meet you at Chertsey a couple of weeks ago.

Regarding the Wednesday Chaingang, this is for any female rider who can ride at 18mph, regardless of her being a Dulwich member plus male Dulwich members who are learning to do bunch riding at training pace. There is a move to aim this at women riders and have it mirror the fast rides on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Male riders from other clubs are welcome to ride on a Tuesday or Thursday evening on those chain gangs.
Some of the VCL guys like Bryan Taylor come along on Wednesday nights, though that is more in a chaperoning/coaching capacity.

Fair enough then... I might go and give a try to the fast thingy sometime, as I've learnt the other day at Chertsey, being dropped is character-building after all :-)

Have fun there!

Phew, my 2nd claim pass might just get me in.

[quote="Sean Hogan - 何祥"]Well in short that was bloody brilliant, in fact back just 10 minutes and I'm still buzzing from the rush. From Elmer's End out to Polhill and back I averaged just under 18mph and kept my average above 17 going back up Polhill. The through off to Polhill up the Sevenoaks & Old London Road was touching on brutal for me and I almost lost touch. At the Polhill Garden Centre Grahame turned round to wait for us to come back.

A small group in all and most of the very fast women went in the faster group, including the same one who left me for dead ages ago on the Col Du Fontaine. She now rides for DNA Cycles, but used to ride for Agisko and had some mouth on her I can tell you  There is no way I could've kept up with them especially as they were led out by Brian Taylor !!!

Toks, you can rest assured that I'll be back for more.

Sean
Great work Sean...it can be tough but feeling yourself gradually getting fitter brings a natural high :D
I hope you can maintain
