Women's Chaingang: Wednesday's

Its called Capitalism and is engrained in almost everyone. Who were the ones taking out 125% mortgages, or telling porkie pies on the self declaration forms to get themselves a larger mortgage that was much too big in relation to their salaries. I don't really want to go too much into it, but it's actually everyones fault for being greedy, but that's the way most people are programmed.

Not sure what this has to do with Women's chaingang, but am sure it is a darn good idea, I would certainly like to come along and watch, or give a helping hand.

Perish the thought that there could be such a thing as ethical capitalism! If capitalism = unfettered greed maybe we need to rethink the model somewhat, but with an index linked state pension why should I care; take it away young Marek and reap that which you sow. mmmmm ...... maybe the idea of a 'chain gang' is not so far removed

Getting back to the original subject - this is on again on Wednesday (11th March).

A women's training ride to Polhill and back. I went last week. Bryan Taylor was chaperoning. Pace was quick, but manageable. A few of us were dropped when going up Polhill, but you just wait at the roundabout and jump back in with the group on the return leg. Those who are dropped on the return leg are waited for at Badger's Mount or in Farnborough Village.
All women who can ride 18 mph average on the club run are welcome to come along. Meet at 7.00 - 7.15pm at Elmers End by the Skoda Garage, for a 25 mile ride.

Shame you can't make it Chloe - this would've been right up your street.

If us ACC "slow" blokes are ahem... tolerated, I might well give it a go tonight, sounds like a nice mid week workout!

(sorry Maria, I'm not sure I know you, are you by any chance the one I was introduced to by Chloe just after the last race at Chertsey??)

Yes, I think I did meet you at Chertsey a couple of weeks ago.

Regarding the Wednesday Chaingang, this is for any female rider who can ride at 18mph, regardless of her being a Dulwich member plus male Dulwich members who are learning to do bunch riding at training pace. There is a move to aim this at women riders and have it mirror the fast rides on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Male riders from other clubs are welcome to ride on a Tuesday or Thursday evening on those chain gangs.
Some of the VCL guys like Bryan Taylor come along on Wednesday nights, though that is more in a chaperoning/coaching capacity.

Fair enough then... I might go and give a try to the fast thingy sometime, as I've learnt the other day at Chertsey, being dropped is character-building after all
