I know all this training business makes us sound a bit serious but, well, some people really are into this bike lark so feel free to talk about all training & self improvement related topics in here

If it's not peeing down, I'm planning to be there (at least until the climb out of Coney Hall).

I suspect Sean will show his face as well.

I might come out tonight and form a fast group of riders off the front.

Went out last night with the racers on the summer route and felt the best I'd felt on a bike ever, I just couldn't believe it something just clicked and it all came together :D :D

Yep, pretty good riding last night. I'd forgotton how much fun riding fast in the dark with inadequate lighting amongst a group of 'variable' standard riders could be. Just enough in the group to do some lengthy turns on the front if you needed a bit of extra work and the pace was manageable by all as long as we didn't welly it up the hills when the inevitable groans from messrs Hogan, Baker and Co could be heard slowly receding into the distance.

By Pole Hill (outbound) we were in sight of the fast group and started to pick up riders with Georgian cleat marks over their foreheads who had been dropped :D :D :D

Up Pole Hill (inbound) we shelled out the remaining non-ACC group members but as it was their ride not ours we sat up to let them back on after we picked up Sean.
With a few of the faster group now in tow (and some more even 'sketchier' riders) we had a right ol' ding-dong back through Farnborough to Bromley.

In her first chain-gang ride, Chloe was the hero - contributing as much as anyone in the T & O and getting some high-value experience of riding close quarters in a group much faster than she's used to, which should help with her racing.

Over 20 riders out in total and this looks set to grow in coming weeks. (Why do they call it a woman's chaingang? There were 3 women and around 20 blokes?

Good training, good fun, highly recommended

I overcooked it a bit on the way out and even had Huw ask me to slow down a bit

At that pace you were likely to blow before West Wickham :D

Yes, in the superlative-ridden words of John Major, this ride was 'very nice'. Very useful training and something a bit different. A few people were decidedly twitchy after the main regroup on the way back but we all seemed to survive.

Good to see so many Agreeables out - see you next week.

In my group I was surrounded by Blue kit, only thing is , there didn't seem to be much blue around me at the top of Pole hill or Farnborough

Felt awesome again last night, one guy told me I should ride the Tue & Thu racers chaingang, I told him I already do :D
