Well that was fairly shortlived.

I turned up still feeling the after effects of a half marathon on Sunday.
My game plan was to sit in on the way there and on the way back do some efforts on the front and obviously not get dropped in process. See what happens.

The tempo was noticeably slower than last week. George wasn't there either

All was going according to plan when the lights changed after Farnborough hospital causing a break in the chain. A group of around 6 got through with Serge and the rest of us decided we would chase them down. Seemed to be working or maybe they eased off but I could see them getting nearer. That's when it happened.

Pushed down on the pedals then "ARRGGGHHH" my pedal arm completely locked up :x . I had to wave the rest of my group and pull up to check my bike. Game over

Seems like the bottom bracket locking nut had come lose and wedged in against the pedal arm. Spent five minutes at the side of road getting the nut off the pedal arm and turned around off home. Oh well. :|

Serge and Graham were both going well.
How did you guys get on?

Ed,

I think it was a little easier last night. After the split in the group at the lights, we chased back. I had a couple of turns on the front along with others and we were gradually catching up, which surprised me. So I guess it must have been slower this week.

Anyhow, chased back until we were nearly on the back at the right turn up towards Polhill, then got caught with traffic again. We chased again, but to no avail. Eventually we regrouped at the usual spot.

Overall, I think I am getting more used to this and actually quite enjoyed last night. I managed to stay with the group on the sprint up the hill up into farnborough, which was definitely not possible last week. Maybe I'll start to look forward to this session soon.

If will be more fun when they change the route...

Now for the ACC Training Group..

Ta,

Graham.

Tuesday was fun. As said before felt a bit easier without George to push the pace a little. I still got a good workout though as my TSS was only a few points down on last weeks. Had a good few turns on the front and then the group got split by some traffic lights on the A21. Had a great climb up polo hill myself and one other really went for it, try as I might I could not shake him and he could not drop me. The return leg of the journey always feels easier as I think half the group is pooped ! Before heading home I do 6-8 zone 6 2 minute intervals just to keep some specifity in the session (rest periods on the way out are too long).

Sorry to hear about your mechanical ED, that sucks  . Grahame you are defo getting stronger as whenever I look for you you are always in the thick of things.

Well thats my last hard effort before my first big race of the year: Mountain bike National points series this sunday, round 1 whoop whoop.

Time to see if it has all paid off.

Race report to follow :)
