Richmond laps

I know all this training business makes us sound a bit serious but, well, some people really are into this bike lark so feel free to talk about all training & self improvement related topics in here

Sean,

Seeing you can sit in a bunch doing 19mph av for 1hr-1hr30mins can you ride @ 21mph + for an hour on your own?

Do you know what the wind conditions are going to be like on the day you attempt your ride?

What equipment will you be riding? Aero wheels? Time trial helmet? Time trial bike?

Are you you going to be riding on the drops or tops?

Lastly how long is a piece of string?
Given my recent relatively sustained riding in the 19s what sort of times should I expect to post for lasp of RP, the number of laps is 3 right?
Who knows? I reckon there's only one way to find out. :D

that's good going :)

riding home (to putney) there was a very strong and gusty wind so it must have been hard work in the park

And shorter - by 30 metres or so (assuming a 10 metre wide road)

I was gonna post that you were nuts to do it before Palace, that sort of hard TT Threshold effort is no sort of warm up just before a fast furious and technical hour long race.

But I didn't.

So.....how did you do at Palace :?:

Actually I was in half a mind not to race earlier in the day hence the trip out to RP, but there you go. It is all training work albeit not exactly tailored to the Nove Colli. ;-)
Er...I must disagree with you my good man :D All your moderate-high end aerobic efforts both at CP and RP wil contribute to improved cardiovascular (VO2max) and muscular fitness (Lactate Threshold) all absoloutely key to Nove Colli :D :D :D

Appologies for droning on. One of the reason The RP 3 lap challenge became so popular was because it was promoted by me and one or two others as a great bench mark for fitness. To get Gold in the Etape 2005 95% of my training was done at Regents Park and RP. Kingston Wheeler(currently 2nd on the list) was successful in a previous etapes and pretty much based his training on 3 laps of RP. 8) :D
No, I agree with you as I know it is all doing me good. Certainly I'm in far better shape than thistime 2 years ago

I will definitely give the ThreeLapChallenge a punt after I come back from Italy. As I said I did those 2 laps with a short break inbetween each time. I think I could get in under 70 for the three laps. Does it matter which way the laps are run?

Sean
Most people do the Anti Clockwise Loop and I'm no different. As all could TT'ers will tell you don't start off too fast. Go steadish on the climbs and look to regain speed on the descents. Watch out for deer, cars and pedestrians :D
Well thats good as I preferred the ACW as that steep hill on the CW is a bugger.

Depends which gate you're starting from.

Managed a 58:24 which I reckon is good enough (for me) :)

Probably got some more in the tank - got held up by an ambulance for about a quarter of a lap - so will have another go at some point...

I see Toks has quietly put in a good time 8)
