Downing's week in training...

I know all this training business makes us sound a bit serious but, well, some people really are into this bike lark so feel free to talk about all training & self improvement related topics in here

You'd think they'd have just started providing sofas by now, wouldn't you?

Depending on the store some have stairs, or you can use the low tables in the book department.

Andrew, I can't believe you are letting the standard slip.

Letting that grocers' apostrophe go in Adam's post without at least a comment about "Sofa's what?"

Back to pedants' corner for me*.

* Yes, it IS correct. There is more than one pedant there  .

Doesn't it depend whether it's a corner specifically allocated for doing pedantic things, or just a corner where pedants go and hang out?

Rather like Speakers' Corner in Hyde Park. You can go there and not actually speak; last summer I saw a bloke there who didn't say a word, he just had a sign around his neck bearing the words "It's going to get a lot worse". And he was right.

That is correct - when I saw this I actually took the trouble of calling him to confirm it - he insists the truth

If "the hill" is his local pub, then I agree. A chaingang after a session like that is nuts.
