Boxhill TT Challenge Kingston Wheelers times

I know all this training business makes us sound a bit serious but, well, some people really are into this bike lark so feel free to talk about all training & self improvement related topics in here

i think we should lay down the challenge on the mtb route aswell up boxhill, its tough and quite hard to keep your rhythm, lets get those ACC mtb'ers giving it a damn good thrashing!!
the leith hill route is pretty tough and a technically sustained effort aswell, it won't just go to the fastest, but to a rider who has excellent bike handling skills, on my first go in may i did 34 mins, i've asked Nirvana cycles for times

lets post some ACC times up before i email out a newsletter to all the local cycling clubs...come on now STRENGTH AND HONOUR!! Serge? George?

I fancy a go at the Leith Hill climb. I just dont know where it is, anyone fancy doing this soon ?
Maybe a ride round first on a recce, just to gauge what sort of effort is required/can be sustained.

road TT Start at the right turn into the Zig Zag road, finish when you reach the entrance to the NT car park on the left hand side opposite the cafe

MTB TT Starting from the bottom of the Zig Zags once you get offroad, all the way up the chalk path to the top just past the Fort finishing at the top by the bank next to the wooden gate. This is opposite the grassy island on the road.

The Course

* Starting from the Bayleaf Restaurant, up the steep hill on the road, onto the grass on the green,
* directly ahead into the singletrack, right at the end, left motocross skid into the trees, follow this track bear left, down the gulley and drop offs, over the sand steps,
* left into the Rookery lane, follow 200m, then left up track next to the house with the weir thing from lake, up the rookery steps,
* then at top follow the trail alongside the mesh fence in and out of the trees, (not the green lane track),
* onto sandy trail then up the right side onto the top by fence again, down off this, into the trees up the steep bank over slipping root, following this on the right hand track,
* through muddy ditch, into windy trees track, up the banked turn left then right, bear right then up steep bank onto the lower side of the bottom of Summer lightening.
* then instead of going onto summer lightening proper head up left climbing up, then right and along until you pass the start of summer lightening.
* Over humps then right into trees with coldharbour below you on the left, using the upper route then right turn then up into the muddy rooted area towards Deliverance, then the direct route to the cricket ground in the trees and bomb holes,
* alongside the left of the cricket ground, take the right track through the gate at the top, sweeping down and up the left side,
* thru 2 more gates down then up fast track to the bottom of the climb up to the tower.
* Take the direct route up here on the balancy uphill singletrack.
* Finish. Tea and cake at the top!

I wouldn't mind having a go at this. Used to be pretty handy in MTB hillclimbs back in NZ; even set a record on one...but that was 14 years ago!

Ben, at your height and at that speed it was not a head wind, that was a jet stream. What did you do as a warm up before setting this time?

Cheers
