A Place to idle the day away talking about anything you fancy. Expect to find cycling and non cycling topics inside

I like to tinker. The club logo wouldn't have gone with the largely blue scheme that was on before.

Talking of which, if anyone has any better artwork of the logo (or any talent in touching that one up) then that would be greatly appreciated.

Nice one, Phil. Very good look compared to the old blue one which was the same as every other phb forum. However, forum has been very quiet of late. Is there just nothing to say or is it being said elsewhere? For my own part I am still trying to live down my shameful years of defending the cheating Texan drug-monkey to all and sundry so keeping a lowish profile.

I was under the impression that club chat is done via other social media, that I don't/won't belong to!!

You are not alone in being a Facetweet Naysayer. This is why we (the committee) would rather keep important topics here. Facebook is convenient for chat/photos but this seems to be the place that the most people can reach.

And the only people who could gather your personal data are me and Marco and frankly I can't be bothered.

Got sucked onto FB years ago - only find it useful just to keep an eye on what's being said there but otherwise it's too ephemeral for anything much. And I'm too private a person to post much on there.

I have a scalable vector logo somewhere, so should be able to produce a pinsharp 148px square logo...

Alex P has sent me a PDF which I suspect is the original source. I can get one good enough for web stuff out of there. I was hoping that for printed we had an "original" lying around somewhere. Also if anyone knows things like the font "Established 1929" should be in. It would be nice to have a consistent look across everything.

Saying that, I don't want to get heavily into graphic design stuff as graphic designers can be a PITA with their demands for obscure fonts that look exactly like Arial.

All that's changed is the look - the functionality should be unaffected. You'll need to accept a cookie to have that set.

It's you. Or the effect of the sun being out.

There are some pretty subtle colour effects which don't show on the all the monitors I use.

The logo at the top I have replaced with a smoother one. Trying to work out out to get a little panel which uses the News RSS feed to show "latest news" somewhere on this page. That may require deploying my m4d sk1llz as a 1337 hax0r though.

Being a laptop user, im not keen on the portrait style. The start of the forums is over half way down my screen and have to scroll down to see all of them and scroll down again past all the stickys to see any posts (if I can be bothered).

A recent topics page would be nice if possible.

I think the forum has been quiet since the this http://www.addiscombe.org/members/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=13300&p=121861&hilit=forum+use#p121861

Paul: I admit I hadn't tried on anything except my monitors and my phone so hadn't see what it looks like on a small laptop. I could probably lose a bit of the header and make that shorter - I don't believe that anyone ever uses "Advanced Search" so that could go. Hmm. Might have a play this evening.

I can sympathise with what Marco did. Political stuff can get pretty poisonous (worse even that Campag/Shimano or vi/emacs) and online arguments can get out of hand because there's no nuance, no facial expression etc.

That said, this forum is re-actively moderated so, in theory, you can post what you want ...
