HELP! Ride needed from London Tri

Postby Dan B » Fri Aug 01, 2003 4:58 pm

My wife has left me stranded, as she has no wish to drive to the Docklands on a Sunday. In fact, she wants nothing to do with triathlon in general, especially on a summer Sunday morning.

I can get my stuff to the race (which should be a comedy of sorts at 6-7am) but I'll have one hell of a time trying to get it all back, plus my bike, to Croydon after my race (starting at 9:30, should be done by noonish).

If anyone wants to see what triathletes go through on race day - especially those with hostile spouses - this is the perfect opportunity.

Any help appreciated!!!

Why not support the club's promotion at Herne Hill instead? And rule number 1............don't marry hostiles! Wether you're into bikes, trains or stamps, it helps to have 'the Guv'nors support'.

Very helpful, Mr Pot Belge -

1. I do have the Guv'nor's support to commute and abandon the house on Saturday mornings;

2. I was a convert who discovered he had a hostile upon spending £700 for a bike and £50 per race;

3. I'm hoping to spread the word of the Addiscombe to the triathlete crowd about us; and

4. This still doesn't get me home from Docklands.

I will endeavour to strip down my paraphernalia to bare rucksack minimum and get by with a weekend travelcard. If you see a bloke riding south tomorrow looking like death with his house on his back and two tyres about to explode, buy him a pint. I may stop by Herne Hill, if only to pass out.

DLR is open to bikes so shouldn't be a problem to get the train all the way home, that's what I'm doing.

Thanks Elliot -

I was able to meander home via DLR, East London line from Shadwell, and a stopping train from New Cross Gate. All that free Purdey's sure came in handy ... I was very nearly rehydrated by the time I walked in the door.

Hope the relay went well!
