I know all this training business makes us sound a bit serious but, well, some people really are into this bike lark so feel free to talk about all training & self improvement related topics in here

One should not paint the brush that the FaCT philosophy is that long slow training is the only way to develop great cyclists.
What does that sentence mean? :?

This sort of reminds me of a weird personal development seminar I did a couple of years ago, the 'Landmark Forum'. Although it was a good way to stop your procrastinating and it was cheap(ish), there was no coaching over a long period of time and no follow-up other than in order to get you to sign up for the next cheap(ish) course. They didn't give a rats ass about you, just your money. It smacked of cultism.

It appears from Andrew Sellars points that you 'just gotta believe' in doing the FaCT stuff. Which is NOT good.

It is difficult to understand what Juerg is talking about at times, which doesn't help matters. Also I suspect that most of us don't know enought about physiology to be able to sort the bullion from the bull.

The fundamental way I see in that FaCT differs from the Landmark course (and any other parallel you could mention) is that

1. FaCT are forever saying ' do the research' so it's obvious that they think they have a physiologically correct way of improving performance.
2. They are precicely about long term development, so they are vested in you and your continued development long term.
3. It doesn't cost a lot to do it - you can do lots of stuff on your own when you have your LBP sorted out, you don't need to buy any of the other stuff.
4. Sometimes, when all else fails and you have got yourself onto a plateau, you just gotta give these things a try. Not too much lost if it doesn't work, eh!

Still, lots of people will be having a good old larf if we all come a cropper. We can just dust ourselves down and try something else :D

For you Michelle the test will be assessing your coaches coaching skills...

That's why I went on the Education course to learn the basics.

You too can join their forum and ask questions or ask your coach if you don't understand anything.

You need to read some of your own stuff, isn't what you're recommending to Marco LSD training   If you're playing some kind of cryptic game where you chose not to explain things without any real clarity I don't mind. But its getting a bit boring now. :D

Toks I am recommending to Marco BI-STF training for mitcohondria development capiliaries etc...

I will spell it out clearly to you...Get your arse down here and get tested, god I'll do the first one for free for you so you get the idea of what I am doing and you can show me how good your recovery line is as so far anyone doing high intensity stuff has a poor line. Ask Keith, Sylv and Apples.

Be easier if we spoke face to face as I poke your finger as talking on here is clearly not working. Fair enough a free test and my time?

Nope recommending the right zone for STF stimulation to bring up his LBP/increase watts @ LBP...For me it's 145bpm, Keith 140, Slyv 140 unfortuntaley for Marco 120.

Huw if your reading this I could do a hand here explaining things to Toks as you understand the FACT ideas....

Come on Toks a free test....

We all know ACC members respect you and listen to you so come on down, get tested and share your experiences...It's free you have tomorrow to decide by 9pm then the offer is withdrawn...

Before the test you can guess the following :-

The start of your recovery HR zone?
Cross over point for STF/FTF?
Your LBP?
How you breathe at your top end - are you using your diaphragm?

If you do not understand the above then you have not read Paul Tunnell's thread...

Will your 2 x 20's tell you this? Have a go it will be fun.

There could be 3 circumstances :-

1. Toks says no thanks to free test.

2. Toks says yes to test and enjoys it and learns form it.

3. Toks says yes to test and afterwards says it's a load of bull.

I'm hoping it's no.2!!!
