ChainGang 17.03

I know all this training business makes us sound a bit serious but, well, some people really are into this bike lark so feel free to talk about all training & self improvement related topics in here

So are you going to start lobbying BC/UCI in order that Jack can use senior gears then?

[quote="Antloony"] Now obviously I'm no talent scout but when a 15 year old can keep up with the cream of the training group then he's got something going for him. I 've spoken to his parents and they're keen for him to progress and get some proper guidance.

Good idea - Decent junior's are often able to compete and beat with senior riders over the shorter race distances but need more work on their endurance. I' remember when I was racing getting p***ed off in 1 hour crits because the Junior riders seemed to be able to sprint for the entire duration. Then the same rider's would be blowing up really badly on much slower training rides after 2-3 hours.

If he's really talented the Sutton Go Ride coach should already have put his name forward to BC for one-to-one coaching. Let me know if you want to take this further and I'll send you down the proper channels - and well done for finding/encouraging him

You'd be surprised at how many coaches and parents have over the years to no avail

Missing the point again Adam.

Youve lost this one face up to it - time to move on to the next argument. Have you done your Power tests yet? Ill put my PowerTap on a penny farthing if you prefer.

Cheers Huw. I'll speak to him in the next couple of days and see where and what he's up to coaching wise and get back to you via pm.

Please do go ahead with your penny farthing suggestion.

If and when I do any power tests as part of any selection processes for any teams, rest assured Paul, you won't be at the top of the list of people to inform of the results!

How can I lose an argument if I'm not arguing?
