Looks like Mr Bayliss needs to get himself out with the club to up his bike leg .
[quote]Triathlete and sometime racing cyclist Philip Graves became the youngest ever winner of an Ironman Trithlon when he won Sunday’s Bolton event.
The 20 year-old, third, behind Michael Hutchinson and Kevin Dawson in the recent RTTC National 100-mile championship, covered the 2.4-mile swim, 112-mile bike race and 26.2-mile run in 8-45-52 to beat defending champion Stephen Bayliss by 2-38.
Graves, winner of the last three rounds of the RTTC-Rudy Project Time Trial Series, built his victory on the long bike section where he covered the 112 miles in 4-57-23, 7-27 faster than Bayliss.
Bayliss recouped a lot of his deficit in the Marathon run, covering the 26.2 miles in 2-47-43 to Graves’ 2-52-19.
After race comment from Graves was “If Andy Schleck can finish second in the Giro d’ Italia (2007) at 21 then why can’t I win an Ironman at 20. So now I’ve done it.â€
Graves’ effort qualifies him for the Hawaiian Ironman later in the year and we may see him back in the Time Trial Series.
