Interesting ride down with the 17s - really must get my speedos (and I'm not talking budgie smugglers) sorted out on all my bikes Anyone got the average from CSS to Charlwood? I think we were definitely below speed for most of the ride but with some people struggling at times to keep up even then I didn't push it too much and no one was complaining it was too slow Mind you, it did pick up after Rusper as Lindsay got the bit between his teeth and a pressing bladder problem Completely ripped the group apart despite much shouting from me - gave it up for lost and just kept going

Return ride was a bit steadier with just myself, Dave and a guy I'm sorry I don't know the name - passed a few puncturees including the Captain , who said he was OK, and a couple just after the Merstham drag - sorry, was on the wrong side of the traffic and didn't see you in time - trust you were sorted OK.

Instead of the CR, I took Tom to Cyclopark for a youth training session while I rode around the MTB tracks. Then we went to Dartford A&E. Interestingly the Specialized Echelon helmet came out on top in a recent Which? magazine test and Tom will confirm that it works. I think I'll be buying him another one to replace the broken one.

The 17s was a leisurely ride down and can understand why Lindsay was chomping at the bit and I felt obliged to keep him company. The run in from Rusper wasn't much faster than a normal 17s but I'm sorry we ignored your calls - I still lost the sprint as there was no one to lead me out! If I'd known he'd had a bladder problem I'd have obviously slowed him down!
