Good Friday - Herne Hill

On road, off road, round in a big circle or down to the coast, we do the lot. We don't just do it at all speeds and for all levels, we do it Agreeably as well!

Good Friday - Herne Hill

Anyone fancy riding up to Herne Hill? Gates open at 9:30 so I guess leaving Butlers a about 8:45 would be fine.

Let me know otherwise we'll go direct, not via Croydon.

(If the weather is rubbish the racing won't be on anyway)

Long day if you go that early Phil. Heats in the morning and the main action kicks off around lunchtime.

Willing to take advice (particularly on the route) as I've not been to this event before. I can't remember where I saw the times now ...

Gates open at 9.30 for a 10.30 start, however the morning is only heats, principally the sprint events like the White Hope Sprint. The finals and main races are all in the afternoon with a start time of 1pm. Personally unless there is a friend you want to see in the heats who won't get through to the finals, then I'd only go for the finals. Weather permitting then it is still quite a long day's racing from 1pm with plenty of events.

For route if possible then I'd go through Crystal Palace and drop down College Road past Dulwich College, straight over at the lights and then left on to Burbage Rd at the mini roundabout after the picture gallery.

I've got a half decent route (for London) but I'd need to go from my place up from Wallington then over to Streatham - hardly any main road.

A cold day but a dry one so I rode over to Herne Hill for the Good Friday meeting. Mr. Thighs Forsterman was in attendance along with some of the GB youth team and paralympians Cundy and Butterworth.

Saw Rob briefly and watched a good chunk of the racing with Jon and then we found Mark too on our way back from the beer tent. An enjoyable, albeit cold, afternoon.

They also had the big Triumph Thunderbirds out for a Stayers race. An excellent race with a superb ride by the Brit to beat the German with the mullet, after having to take a couple of laps out to change a punctured front and then chase back on like hell. Amazing endurance.
