CR Thread

On road, off road, round in a big circle or down to the coast, we do the lot. We don't just do it at all speeds and for all levels, we do it Agreeably as well!

Forewent the CR this morning as it was a bit cold and the forecast had threatened things so got things sorted instead. Then went out after lunch for 30 miles...and after 2 of them got snowed on for the next 10. Heading East I expected a headwind out and tail back but it seemed to turn as I ended up with headwind for about 3/4 of the ride. Despite the headwind and snow I enjoyed it and got a nice beep and wave from Maurice (Burton) on the drag up the A21 to Locksbottom.

[quote="Sylv"]Had a good hard ride today with Ghaleb and Ilija (and Matt who we lost before Rusper, we waited but then assumed he'd turned off the short way). Today it really felt like whatever direction we were riding, a strong headwind was following us (quite possible having looked at the forecast). Nevertheless we clocked a good time to Charlwood (just 2 min short of Rich's timed record of last summer), then headed straight for Box Hill. We all looked like miners by then. I felt like one too in the last miles, was properly spent. Weather was not as bad as it had looked first thing out of the window this morning.

Don't know if this will work, but if it does on the following link you can see the various strava people moving on today's CR - see them all converge to CSS, set off in different groups, stop at the café for some, top of Box for a discounted Heston mince pie for me, and again at Coulsdon Waitrose to buy more mince pies for Ghaleb and Ilija:

(think you'll have to press "load 25 rides")

Thanks guys for a great ride. Matt sorry we lost you en route. Hope you got to cafe ok?

Today was one of those days when I was glad to have bothered to get up early on a cold and wet Saturday.

Here is my ride data if anyone is interested. CSS to Waitrose in Coulsdon average moving speed 20mph.

I don't know if you guys are talking about me (probably not!!I don't know how many Matt's are out there  ) but I turned off in Hooley as I had been out the day before... and I was freezing!!

Sounds like it was a good run out today though so I am disappointed I missed it.

Went with the first group of 19s and we were the first red dot after you Sylv. Was a good little group of 8 to 10. Chris C my Ironman buddy did most of the work on the front, he likes that sort of tempo riding at about 19 to 20mph. Was my first ride for about a month and felt pretty good up to the cafe, after the cafe on way back home blew with about 10km to go and struggled on the hill up into EG. Good ride and really like that little site that shows the Strava riders, how cool is that.

Cheers

Borderline conditions. Wait 'til tomorrow, open the curtains, look at the thermometer and decide then - not now.

Doubt I will. Whilst the roads are clear around here, in places where the snow melted and refrozen it is glacial in places. It will probably be fine but I don'twant the risk of turning a bend and hitting frozen run off.

I'd be very careful if you do venture out tomorrow, especially around the lanes, still pretty cold, maybe a later start or just stick to the main roads.

Cheers

Good to get some opinions, there will probably be a MB option with Geraldine and Marek but by wednesday some of the trails were going slushy underneath and the snow was loosing its grip on the mud - pretty marginal both ways,
