CR Thread

On road, off road, round in a big circle or down to the coast, we do the lot. We don't just do it at all speeds and for all levels, we do it Agreeably as well!

Looks like some rain overnight but it's not meant to freeze or go below 2c and then warm up a bit in the morning, so hopefully it might be ok.

That turned out to be a lot warmer than I expected. Had a lay in and then realised that the weather was great, so got out and rode straight to the cafe at a reasonable pace, well I worked up a sweat. A quick cuppa and then rode out to Dorking with Keith and Dan. Well rode with them for a bit until we got to a drag and they dropped me like a stone.

Keith waited for me on the A25 and we rode back to Reigate together then peeled off and I headed back to EG.

Great to be back on the bike after a couple of weeks off due to the weather, not sure it will last though.

Cheers

A short CR today to get back early. Started off and it began spitting, then a bit of light sleet, and after I turned up Partridge at Parkgate a got a bit of light Snow spots too. Bit of everything except sun and warmth  .

Briefly popped in to the cafe to drop off some handbooks, then set off for home and was joined by Iliya for a nice spin back.

Grotty weather but nice to get a few miles in.

16th Feb, good ride today, went out with the 2nd group on the road and was a good steady pace. Picked up a few of the training group on the way through, looks like they managed to decimate themselves, they were spread out all over the place with what looked like mechanicals, bad legs and people waiting. Chris and I peeled off in Rusper after a bit of a dash up through the woods towards Rusper, legs were feeling good today. We rode over to Ockley up Leith Hill then descended down to Abinger hammer. Over White down (which was tough on a 39/25) and then two circuits ascents of box hill taking in the ballbuster route. Got shouted at by a group of MTBers, I think I recognised the dulcit tones of Mr Malarkey. Then turned for home and rode over to Reigate and then through the lanes back to East Grinstead. A good hilly 135km in the legs, am feeling pretty wiped out now but really enjoyable ride.

Cheers

Keith went real hard up the 3 steps and I tried to follow him, in the heat of the action I forgot I'd indicated this would be a steady twenty, felt bad so stopped and waited at the bottom as we'd dropped everyone except Dave K  . I think Keith and Dave then stopped for a coffee in Reigate, Rich was having issues with his Crud mudguards (same thing has happened to me, the slot for the zip tie broke, a real bugger in the middle of the ride) and had to shove the thing in his jacket , Iliya turned back to get home early, Dan's saddle snapped under his machine-like power, so it was just four of us left and we waited for the next group.
I did the DC on my own, the works there look like they're going to last for ages, I had a car behind me for about 3km - worth avoiding in a group till they are done. We then did the "three hills" route after the café, up some nice climbs (never done that side of Ranmore before), then the group split at the bottom of Box Hill, some going the little Switz way. Dan Scott Joe and me then killed ourselves into the wind on the home stretch, just like in the old TG days, by the time we got to Couldson I had no legs left, and Dan finally had the last word after having huffed and puffed up the climbs behind me :- p

Possibly into April?

Oh well - I like the G45 alternative. More scenic.

I did mention to Chris as your ride was shouted as a steady 20, my comment was a steady 20 what, seven or eight.

Cheers

So many admirers Marek you can't distinguish between them :) .

Roadworks are due to finish end of March but I'm keeping my fingers crossed they don't over run.

An all to common occurrence now. TG is shouted, no one steps forward so a 20's is called next and half the TG gang roll up and then set a ridiculous pace straight out of the blocks. Why? A 20's is not TG pace so why the need to go off like your arse is on fire. Either stick to a 20's pace or sod off on your own and stop spoiling other peoples rides buy showing off and putting people into the red in the first 500 metres.
