Thanks to a self imposed weekend off racing the first club run for me in months. Lots of folk at Coulsdon and loads I have no idea who they were which is no surprise and what happens when you clear off for long periods I guess.
Decided against the training group and went with the 20s as my tester's legs prefer a consistent pace, diesels eh

. Pretty decent ride to the cafe with about four of us doing nearly all the towing but we seemed happy to do so and everyone appeared happy enough. Averaged about 21 to the cafe and myself and three others arrived first having cut off at Lambs Green rather than doing the through and off.
Sat like Billy no mates for a while while folk went through to the garden to catch a few rays while I seeked out the cool and shade. Nice chat with Mark about his, Ajay and David's trip to the cobbles and the TdF. Sounds like it was a belting trip with plenty of quality cobble riding, TdF watching, and Belgian beer drinking

Back with the quick Box Hill group with Paul H, Dan, and Serge appearing to do most of the pain inflicting. My legs fell off a bit on the two little kick ups before the A25 cross over but they were kind enough to ease up for a few seconds for Ed and I to hook on again.
As I went past Rykas and prepared myself to wave goodbye I shipped my chain, failed to catch it so had to stop and do a bit of bike dangling to hook it back on without getting my hands dirty. Job done and back on the bike and without anyone to try and keep up with I just spun up sedately without the motivation or inclination to ride up it harder.
Once at the top and a quick bottle refil and I set off straight away. Hal joined me and we had a pleasant ride back to Coulsdon rolling it along at a nice pace, having left the other "sun bathing beauties" soaking up the rays in the intense heat at Box Hill.
Nice to get out on a club run again and catch up with folk. Smashing weather although you had to keep moving as once you stopped for a second a waterfall fell in front of your face, or it did mine anyway. Thank you factor 50 for letting us redheads get out on our bikes in the sun
