Slower rides to different places - mostly Sundays

On road, off road, round in a big circle or down to the coast, we do the lot. We don't just do it at all speeds and for all levels, we do it Agreeably as well!

Slower rides to different places - mostly Sundays

Postby Amy » Wed Nov 07, 2012 2:24 pm

I need to do some steady but slow rides and want to get out and about in Surrey, Kent and Sussex. Does anyone want to join me? And if you want you can suggest or lead a couple of rides to your favourite cafe/pub/route. Thinking of 40 - 60 miles depending on where, weather etc. Meet same time and place as Del's ride so people can meet and change minds, option for faster/slower ride, destination etc.

If we can build up a core of riders willing to get out on a Sunday or even a Saturday, we should be able to keep this going over winter and once the days get longer, consider the odd all day ride to get some miles in 8)

Please respond and spread the news to anyone who might not get on the forum but would be interested.

I'm happy to take anyone - especially if they're slower than me

Hi Amy, I have just officially joined the club and want to keep my milage up. I can't always make a Saturday and must admit the pouring rain does put me off as does the prospect of a core of really fast (boy) riders that I may have to ride behind are left on a Saturday morning over the winter . I am up for the odd Saturday and Sunday and Thursday and a can assure you that you will be faster than me :)

Thanks, Belinda :D I am really struggling most of the time at the moment so just want to do some rides with no pressure to keep up, go at my own pace or slower, wait at top of hills, be social and just get the miles in going different places 8)

The plan is that if I can get some strength back and consequently some speed, I can exercise that on the Saturday!

I probably won't be able to do weekdays as I've got fed up waiting for a new job and have signed on with Reed to do a bit of temping in the meantime.

Ride this Sunday?

Fraid, I can't do this Sunday - have to go to parents', filial obligations, birthdays and all that. Not to mention I feel completely wiped out by the antibiotics.

Amy
I am keen to get some sensible miles in to build my stamina. Hills kill me at present so might end up walking if they are long or steep. If this is OK I will be very happy to join you preferably on a Saturday and the occasional Sunday.

Could lead a ride somewhere different this Saturday at more of a 15/16s pace... of course, will wait as necessary, especially on hills - unless I am needed on one of the slower rides on the official club run

Saturday is good for me as long as it is not peeing with rain. Where do you meet?, I live in Addiscombe, what time and where do you intend to go?
Dave
PS what does 15/16s mean?

if you're a VC and leading a ride it's an OFFICIAL CR. 8)

I was hoping to get out this Sunday for a gentle spin 15/16/17 sort of thing. I'll be very slow up hills.

Jon
No is the short answer. I would have to drop off and return home on the train if the route allowed. I don't mind this if it does not upset others enjoyment. Would have to build up to both speed and distance.
Perhaps I should pass on this one until I am more able, what do you think?

Come along to our Saturday CR on the first Saturday of the month - next one the 1st Dec - we do a gentler 'beginner's ride'- our Just 4 fun - which should suit you fine.

see you then
