Steady easy paced ride to the Medicine Garden in Cobham, via Ranmore, East Clandon and Ockham, wait on hills, most likely for me - anyone else?

Well, I thought that was a very pleasant ride on the whole though shame it was so foggy on the hills - the views would've been great  Thanks to Simon, Martin and Lionel for joining me for the ride to the Medicine Garden, Cobham. I think Lionel now knows there are worse hills in Surrey than Box Hill! Have to say that as we passed by the turn for the zig zag there just seemed a continual stream of riders turning right to ride up it

Nice little bowl of chilli con carne and a pot of tea in the Hothouse cafe. Martin was also tempted by the chilli - and before that the bacon, brie and onion relish pannini  Simon needed to get back quickly so hopefully took a fast route back via Epsom. Also read a text from Marcus, saying he'd be 10 mins late, which route were we taking....

A shorter and not so hilly ride back to Box Hill where most of the morning's horde's had disappeared and where we picked up an Aodan, lost him briefly as he went through Walton-on-the-Hill and then rejoined us near Kingswood. Martin tried to shoot on down the Chipstead valley road but we could still see him not far in the distance. Aodan and I turned off for Woodmansterne to leave Lionel to make it back to Kenley. Got in about 3pm

Hope you all enjoyed it and got back home safely :D I think I've almost warmed up enough to get in the shower - otherwise it's like having a shower with needles not water

Thanks Amy for a very pleasant ride and saving me from the 'Hell with Del' that would have been on his ride to the hills of Surrey!

Felt guilty that we left without Marcus - shame we missed him. Don't be late next time! :D

After shooting off at the end, I intended to get to GB for the end of their sale. I only really needed some new brake pads. On getting home I didn't like the look of my scored rims - winter cycling is tough on wear and tear. Ended up buying new wheels to go with my new pads as well as some ACC shorts. An expensive day's cycling!

That's the idea - to try and establish another Sunday ride that's not so concerned with rushing about the countryside or have Del tapping his foot at the top of hills while you wheeze up behind everyone else :D Anyone can come along so long as they don't try and go too fast for the group. Does anyone else want to help lead so that we can keep these going without relying on just one person - I may not always be as available as Del.

I know, poor Marcus...

Better check my brake pads and rims - sounded like sandpaper in the front one but I don't think it's the pads worn down - just grit in them.
