SUNDAY RIDE TO BRIGHTON - 7th APRIL

On road, off road, round in a big circle or down to the coast, we do the lot. We don't just do it at all speeds and for all levels, we do it Agreeably as well!

SUNDAY RIDE TO BRIGHTON - 7th APRIL

Postby NickW » Sat Apr 06, 2013 7:36 am

This is not of course Del & Co's Sunday CR.

However, I need to get some miles in and because I have not beeen able to get to the CR or Ben and Rich's Friday rides, I am going to head to Brighton tomorrow.

I will leave from Coulsdon South at 0730 sharp and head straight to Brighton for a bite before returning via Devil's Dyke etc. I guess the "pace" will be at a steady 17/18 group level and, because I need to get back home, I do not really want to be waiting (does this make me the new, albeit slower, Mr Green?).

So hopefully someone will join me but, if not, I will take the hint and join another club.

Has anyone got the number for Redhill's membership sec?

I did however have a great ride even if I was on my lonesome for my first 2013 coastal ride.

I did a ride through at CSS at 0732 and, with no one in sight, set straight off for Brighton on a route I did with Sylv, Ben and a couple of others last year to see Lucy's start at the Brighton Half Marathon. Lovely quiet roads and sunshine all the way. A quick (second) breakfast at The Regency of whole meal toast, kippers and a poached egg (lovely!) and I was on my way again by 1020.

A Devil's Dyke return and the CR route via Charlwood and a pub stop there (the shop was shut!) saw me roll past the platform clock at 1343 so just over 5 hours and 30 minutes actual riding time, albeit enjoying some wind assistance on the return.

Fancy doing it again, this sunday. Weather should be warmer. I've heard Redhill is pretty exclusive.

Shame you were on your tod Nick. I remember doing a similar one to catch the half marathon start a few years ago, it makes it a nice trip .

Ben, I am afraid that I am going to be away from Saturday for some 9 days but thereafter I need to get plenty of miles in for a sportif in Norway at the end of May so I will again be looking for friends!

Cool. Some rides down to Lewes, Rye or Brighton are good fun.
