CANCELLED!! BRIGHTON (and Back) 27th July 2013

Postby Jon C C on a Bianchi » Mon Jul 22, 2013 9:26 pm

Brighton here we come! The third of this year's Cyclotastic Captain's Coastals is coming up - Saturday 27th July 2013. Normal CR to Charlwood abandoned for the day. Please note - the Pine Cafe at Charlwood is CLOSED!

Wear ACC kit, bring money, camera, spare inner tubes, snacks etc.

Lunch at the Regency as usual!Free cake at Nonna's! :D :D

Don't forget if you can't join us for the trip to Brighton you can always come along as far as Turners Hill and make your own way home. It's about the same distance as the normal CR. And of course, there is no compulsion to do the there and back - many ride to Brighton but take the train back.

Back by public demand - another Guru special "Magical mystery tour". Paul T will lead a group to Brighton down the quietest country lanes he could find (well, to Ditchling anyway, not much we can do after that). This is open for riders that can ride with the 16s or above - faster riders will have to slow down!
Leaving CSS around 8:10 am it will probably take 3 - 3 1/2 hours……in Addiscombe kit!!

Anyway, whatever you decide...

Be there or be square and happy cycling.

The Captain 8)

Meet CSS - leaving times as follows:

Magical Mystery 8.10
15 mph 8.15
16 mph 8.30
17 mph 8.45
18 mph 9.00
19 mph 9.15
20 mph 9.30

Cheers, Ant. I hadn't forgotten. Looks like a great idea. I'll check it out this Saturday.

Warm, light wind and possibly a bit of rain is bad weather?

No it isn't. The weather forecast on the BBC and Met office was for incessant rain throughout the morning and afternoon. They've even issued a severe weather warning. But what do they know.

Disappointed but not altogether surprised due to the various weather forecasts on offer. Will have to find another way to catch up with Mr PVT. Might have to do some turboing on the TT bike instead :

Tanhouse Farm Coffee and Garden was a significant improvement on the Pine Cafe, a bit more expensive but worth it, and what a fantastic day for a ride, you know what, we should have gone to Brighton.

Cheers

A nice ride today and the Tanhouse was a big improvement.

The weathermen got it completely wrong and which is good and bad!

Met Office, BBC weather absolutely f***ing useless!

But a great ride today in beautiful sunshine - nice to do another route down to Charlwood. Agree about Tan House Farm - tasty coffee and tasty Bakewell tart. Something to think about. Rode home with group via Box and obtained another hat full of Strava PBs. Sky starting to darken and just starting to spot with rain as I type - 3.15!
