Box Hill on the Big Ring

I know all this training business makes us sound a bit serious but, well, some people really are into this bike lark so feel free to talk about all training & self improvement related topics in here

[quote="Toks"][quote="Andrew G"]Do you use look delta pedals Toks? Give me a shout next time you're down for the CR and we can switch bikes at the bottom of Box.
Ok I'll challenge ya. An out of the saddle 'gentlemens ride' up box hill. It won't be a race it'll be about who can climb the whole thing smoothly out of the saddle without huffing and puffing but then you musn't crawl ant 3mph either :D

You'll need a powermeter to work out who was the smoothest :D

[quote="Toks"][quote="-Adam-"]53x15 to be precise.

Five times.

0 degrees.

Ouch.
Have you ever ridden the whole thing out of the saddle? Just to find out what its like I think I'll give that a go next time I'm over that way. :D

Yep, can't remember exactly but it was in something like 39x19.

Yep, I can vouch that Stu has also done it.

And also, I've watched Dave K ride out of the saddle, in 53x12 all the way to the top. That was impressive. His cadence was slightly down on ususal though, as you'd imagine!!

Normal cadence is 100+, think Box was round 90rpm :wink: But that was with my winter training bike.

Maybe but would sound better if done with one leg, a big gear & breathing in/out through one nostril only.
