Hello, I'll try this one again!

Anyone fancy joining me for a night ride over Reigate Hill / Gatton Park / Banstead Heath on Wednesday night?

Meet at the Reigate Hill Car Park Reigate Hill Car Park at around 19:30 for a 2 hour-ish ride.

I'd love to join you but generally can't do Wednesdays. Any other evening is fine as long as I have at least a day's notice.

Wow, great ride, solo this week, but still great. As I was on my own I decided to stay on more local, familiar trails, as I wanted to see what improvements I had gained from the skills day I did on Monday. Despite the pretty muddy, wet conditions I was much more stable cornering thanks to my improved foot work and body positioning. I felt much more confident generally, and even did the big chute/bombhole, over in the woods near Marden Park, something I have always shy'ed away from before :D. Checked out a new trail, which was very nice, saw a bat along with the usual Baggers, Foxes and Rabbits, great fun. Night riding's great, who's coming out next week?

Is that the Marden Park near Woldingham? I've done that bomb-hole loads of times yet still cannot do Deliverance on Leith Hill. I once sat at the top of it for 10 minutes, physically unable to release the brake even though I'd plotted the line, walked it and inspected it from top and bottom. Pathetic
Probably needs to be taken at speed with some air. Like your excellent avatar pic :D
By "improved footwork" do you mean dabbing? Never done that

Dombo, it ain't pathetic, it's just what it is. I know folk who've taken a year to build up to a particular nemesis styleee drop, and I know a couple I'd love to do but ain't found the way yet. He he, I just go back from time to time and pick 'em off.....slowly 8)

Jamie - there is a slim chance my work might finish early enough next week to allow me out. My lights are pretty crap tho  more news when I get it

Yes, thats the one, it's quite a bit smoother than Deliverance  . Sounds like you've turned Deliverance into a big mental monster for yourself, have you attempted it with other riders? Things are always easier when you've just watched your mates riding it.

Night riding is indeed a blast - especially as I now have not one but two DealExtreme supercheap superlights (one for the helmet and one for the handlebar) - 1400 lumens, baby! Snoop - get some!

I'll come along if I can.

I've actually got one of these: http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.29489 plus one of these: http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.30864 I ditched the utterly useless elastic strap for the helmet mount and fixed it on with cable ties (I use a spare helmet for night riding). For the bar mount light I use two velcro cinch straps to fix the battery under the stem.

Although claimed output is 900 lumens they're actually more like 700, which is still very good for around £50 each.

I'm sure the light you've linked to would be great as well, but I like the helmet/bar combo.

Hey Mike, would it be possible to borrow your helmet light for the cross race next weekend? I've got good bar lights, but it would make it a lot more enjoyable! Would be great.
Thanks,
Sylvain

Sylvain, Lucy and myself were just discussing coming to watch, if so, you are quite welcome to use my light, it's very bright and straps on to a helmet with two cable ties.
