Well I was out of action since may 2010 body finally gave up on me and refused to allow me to cycle pain free. I could barely ride for 15mins. After spending money on a retul fit just to double check position, then seeing a phsyio through my company insurance 1 month later I was no better.
I swapped physio and went to see Balance Performance in Clapham who have helped me back to ridng the bike this took until Jan 2011 when I started to see progress. Now I was lucky my insurance covered my physio bill (£90 per 1 hour) but I initially did the same as you reseraching on the web to find out answers I just got frustrated as my postion or equipment hadnt changed.
Dont take this persoanl Toks but I get the impression you dont like spending cash, actually lots of people dont like spending money on their body but dont mind buying parts for their bike. I suggest you see a phsyio who is cycling orientated and they can look at your body as whole package and watch you ride on the bike.
Cheers Rob
P.s what sypmtoms did i have? Burning quads, sore qauds,IT band pain, stiif throaic spine, pin and needles in hands, feet and inner part of quads.
I also ride Speedplay pedals and founds both sets of pedals had lateral rock. Each pedal had 15,000 miles. I could rock the shoe and touch the pedal spindle. By replacing the pedlas for a new set I got rid of my soreness on the outside of teh quad near the knee. Nothing last for ever parts have to be replaced. Speeplay in the US told me they see this where people have a varus foot and adding a shim to sort out this issue and reduce waer on the pedal. You will still wear out a pedal if your biomechanics is not right.
