Sunday CR 3 Mar

On road, off road, round in a big circle or down to the coast, we do the lot. We don't just do it at all speeds and for all levels, we do it Agreeably as well!

Thanks Katie.

Good ride today. I'll be happier when I get my strength and fitness back! :D

Managed to lose Mr  and 3 or 4 others at the split for Emmets. Hope they all got back ok.

I felt tired as soon I heard Rich mention White Lane! That gave me all the inspiration I needed to split off and head home - I think you would have seen me spit if I'd had to ride up White Lane today!

Don't worry Katie, she was in safe hands with Dave, Matt and I.

We heard a shout behind on Idehill but not what it was, thought maybe another dropped chain so we carried on to the top to wait in the village. After about 10 minutes we guessed you must have turned up Emmetts.

I took them down the other side and through the reservoir. Then we turned for Four Elms in case you'd gone to Chartwell Barns, you weren't there so we didn't stop and headed up past Chartwell, Westerham, and then back up Botley via Rectory Lane.

It stayed surprisingly chilly as I thought it would warm up a bit, and despite the split on Idehill we had a good ride with a nice blast back along the ridge road to finish. Merelize (?) and Matt both riding well, hard to believe Matt's only 14 sometimes.

We waited at Chartwell Barns for about 5 minutes.

Looks like we must have left just a bit before you got there.

We headed straight across the lights at Four Elms and back via Crockham Hill to Limpsfield.

Glad you all got back ok. And you're right that young Matt is riding really well!

Thanks Del for great ride. Apologies for continuously dropping chain! Thoroughly enjoyed Katie's peacock impression when nearly rolling over a massive brown steamy thing in road! Popped my white hill cherry! Know now why you went the sensible route home. Thanks again. T :D

Anyhow, I'd just got over losing you guys at Ide Hill, and had dragged my aching legs back to Smallfield, when I came across this shocking news in the local paper:

Thanks Del.

On a point of order though, a cafe stop involves more than stopping at the cafe, looking in on the warmth and cakes inside and then riding off again. Not acceptable behaviour in my book.

Thanks again.

I think you're right.

I wished I'd stopped at the cafe on the way home!

And it's one of my favourite cafes as well!

Tough ride this sunday, left home shortly after 5.30 am and the group of 20 left the meeting point promptly at 6am and 5 or 6 late comers caught us up and it is understood that the first 10 miles go easy to let others join. It started to rain but sisnce the ride had been postponed once already we pressed on. Over about 50 miles we dropped 1700 feet before beginning a 10 mile climb in 3 steps, the last being the steepest. Views were stunning but my head was down and I eventually arrived in a grupito of 3, drank 2 cartons of liquid oats before turning around for a pretty fast descent. Shortly after we stopped for breakfast and then headed back for the city with a final stop for Guarapo, an iced drink freshly squeezed sugar cane and lemon. Returned around 2.30pm. This was my toughest ride yet, 115 miles andover 6,800 feet of climbing and good training for our planned 4 day trip over Holy week. http://app.strava.com/activities/43011524#
